Flying Over 3,000 Kilometers from Kuala Lumpur to Xi’an: A Malaysian Girl Travels to China for Thyroid Cancer Surgery

Recently, the International Department of Hygeia Healthcare Chang’an Hospital welcomed a Malaysian patient named Hana. After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in her home country, Hana and her family made a careful decision to fly over 3,000 kilometers to Xi’an and receive surgical treatment at Chang’an Hospital.

Upon her arrival, a multidisciplinary expert team formulated a meticulous surgical plan for Hana. The treatment aimed to fully remove the lesions to prevent recurrence while preserving partial thyroid function. Led by Professor Liu Hongbin, the surgical team completely excised the tumor, performed systematic dissection of surrounding lymph nodes, and carefully protected adjacent nerves to avoid functional impairment.

Intraoperative blood loss was less than 10 milliliters throughout the entire procedure.
